Report a Lost or Found Pet

Arnell is the designated Humane Society and holding facility for stray animals in Polk County. If you live in Polk County, or your pet has been lost in Polk County, your pet may have been brought to our shelter.

Click here to find a list of Strays delivered to Arnell Humane Society within the last seven days.  After the seven day hold, animals will be removed from this list.  If an animal is considered adoptable, it will be offered for adoption on Our Animals pet list. 

Report a LOST PET

A list of Stray Pets brought to our shelter will be posted at our front entrance for after hours inquiries.

If your lost pet is not at our shelter, we may know where it has been found. Please contact the shelter (715) 268-7387, with information regarding your lost pet. Arnell maintains a Lost and Found File. It lists Lost and Found animals, dates lost and contact information.

To report a lost pet, call the shelter during business hours, 11 am to 4 pm, Monday through Saturday, or leave a detailed voice mail message with an accurate description of your pet. A detailed description should include the breed, size, sex, collar color, tag information and in what area it was lost, as well as your name and contact information. A thorough description will help us coordinate your lost pet with those at the shelter or those found and held within the community.

If you are Reporting a Lost Cat: a physical description is very important; short hair or long, Male or Female, Fat or Thin, coat color or unusual markings, Spayed/Neutered or not, declaw, collar color and the Date Lost and Area Lost From.

If you are Reporting a Lost Dog: The breed of dog (or the breed it looks most like), color, markings, coat length, collar, tags, Male or Female, unusual markings or physical attributes, temperment, Fat or Thin, Spayed or Neutered and Date lost and Area Lost From.

Report a FOUND PET

If you have found a Stray from or in Polk County:

There is no Designated Animal Control for most of Polk County. Arnell Humane Society does not have the authority to pick up stray animals in Polk County. Contact your Town Chair or Village/City official to report a stray animal in your area. Each municipality operates according to it's own ordinances and capabilities regarding stray animals. Your Town/Village/City official should offer to deliver the stray to the safety of our shelter.

          If they are unwilling or unable:

• Call the shelter with the Found Animal Information and make arrangements to deliver the stray to the shelter during business hours.
• If the shelter is NOT OPEN, contact the Amery Police Department at: 120 Center Street, Amery - (715) 268-7411
• The Amery Police have a key to the Animal Drop Off Box at the shelter. The Amery Police will meet you at the shelter to assist with the delivery of the animal and the necessary paperwork.
• If you are unable to reach the Amery Police Dept., contact the Polk County Sheriff at (715) 485-8300. The Sheriff will dispatch the Amery Police.
