If you are reporting a lost dog: the breed of dog (or the breed it looks most like), color, markings, coat length, collar, tags, male or female, unusual markings or physical attributes, temperament, fat or thin, spayed or neutered, date lost, and area lost from.
Report a FOUND PET
If you have found a stray from or in Polk County:
There is no designated animal control for most of Polk County. Arnell Humane Society does not have the authority to pick up stray animals in Polk County. Contact your town chair or village/city official to report a stray animal in your area. Each municipality operates according to its own ordinances and capabilities regarding stray animals. Your town/village/city official should offer to deliver the stray to the safety of our shelter.
Click on "ANIMAL CONTROL CONTACTS" for a list of animal control contacts.
If they are unwilling or unable:
Call the shelter with the found animal information and make arrangements to deliver the stray to the shelter during business hours.
If the shelter is NOT OPEN, contact the Amery Police Department at 120 Center Street, Amery, 715-268-7411. The Amery police have a key to the animal drop-off box at the shelter. The police will meet you at the shelter to assist with the delivery of the animal and the necessary paperwork.
If you are unable to reach the Amery police department, contact the Polk County sheriff at 715-485-8300. The sheriff will dispatch the Amery police.
